The 6th edition of BGD Weightless, the paragliding competition with weight-adjusted scoring, takes place from 2-8 August this year in Laragne-Monteglin, southern France. It will be run by the Chabre Club, with Bruce Goldsmith.
The scoring will use a further developed version of MRT (Multiple Radius Turnpoints). Essentially, the turnpoint radii are adjusted for different weight-categories (shorter legs for smaller wings) in order to create a level playing field for all sizes; it's well known that heavier pilots and larger wings have a natural performance advantage in paragliding.
The competition is open to competition newcomers as well as more experienced pilots. Its ethos is to provide a fun and supportive environment with an emphasis on learning. There will be daily briefings, debriefs and strategy advice. The competition is serial class, open to wings up to and including EN-D.
