BGD Weightless 2022 – a great week in Spain!
31-08-2022
#Compétition
The 5th edition of BGD Weightless just finished in Piedrahita, Spain, and what a week it was! Four tasks scored, big wide thermals, 4,000m cloudbases, and smiling faces in goal every day.
Alexey Boldyrev won overall (Cure 2), Lauris Pumpurs (R-Lite 3) took the Leisure Class win, and Eva Henneman (Swift 5) the female class.
Four tasks were scored: 52.5km, 94.4km, 52.7km and 59.3km. The MRT (Multiple Radius Turnpoints) scoring system, which uses different sized turnpoint cylinders for different weight bands, worked really well.
Not only was the flying fabulous, but Piedrahita was in full party mode all week as well. A stage was set up in the square with concerts every night, to test the pilots' willpower (what's bed time?).
Ed Weare won a brand new BGD wing of his choice in the prize draw; Pierre Garin won an Oops reserve, and Jorge Rosso will be the pride of his tea room with his new BGD mug.
