Andrew Rayhill

united states

Since learning to fly in 2008, Arizona-based pilot Andrew has planned much of life around weather windows, mountain launches and the chance to go cross-country. Arizona’s desert flying has shaped his approach to XC, and the Diva 2 has been the wing for some of his biggest flights. Flying across the US and in Europe, Central America and South America has brought another kind of reward. Even far from home, there’s a good chance of running into a familiar face on launch. Andrew benefited from strong mentorship while learning to fly XC and now enjoys helping newer pilots build the same confidence. As safety officer for his local club, he’s also involved in keeping flying sites open. Some of their most rewarding days in the sport have come from watching other pilots start to see how far they can go. Looking ahead, Andrew wants to push his XC flying in the Southwest and beyond, improve in competitions and do more mentoring, particularly around reading the weather and making decisions in flight.
