Description

Avec ses 25 ans d'expérience en compétiton, Bruce connaît bien les caractéristiques d'une bonne voile de compétition. La DIVA est le parapente le plus rapide et le plus avancé qu'il ait jamais conçu. Certifiée CCC, elle est construite avec un mélange de D30 standard et de tissu léger Porcher 27g. Elle profite d'un suspentage optimisé pour réduire la traînée, de la technologie CCB, d'un Sharknose, d'une stabilité progressive et d'un profil taillé pour la vitesse. Tous ces éléments font de la DIVA une aile très compétitive mais cependant facile à manier au sol comme en l'air, avec une excellente sécurité pour sa catégorie.

Spécificités techniques

Strong shark nose

An ultra aggressive shark nose optimises stability at all speeds. Not all sharks are created equal and BGD’s shark noses are very aggressive, maximising the effects of the technology.

Leading edge mini-ribs

Situated along the leading edge are reinforced mini-ribs, designed to help produce a rock-solid profile while on speed bar.

Eyes wide-open safety

Gliders that talk are safer. Safer gliders make pilots perform better. Better performing pilots fly further. Further flying pilots are happier pilots. Eyes Wide-open Safety produces happier pilots.

Maximised unsupported cells

Optimised unsupported cell groups are designed to match the span-wise load distribution influenced by the line layout. Coupled with a strong internal structure, the line layouts that create more span-wise tension can support more unsupported cells. While maintaining a homogenous wing, this helps to minimise line consumption reducing drag thus improving performance.

Optimised line layout

Over the years we have perfected our system of optimising the line layout of our wings. We use numerous equations, software, and the plain old guess-and-check method to build our line layouts. The result is simple: fewer lines making stronger, faster gliders.

Post C-band

We have added a Post-C band running along the top surface which seamlessly moves down to the bottom surface at the tip, connecting directly to the last line cascade. Instead of putting heavy plastic rods above the C lines we use this band to counter the common flip-up ripple caused when applying a little brake. The problem with paragliders is when a little brake is applied the cupping of the trailing edge creates lift which often buckles the profile near the Cs. We have solved this problem with the Post-C Band, an eloquent, lightweight, clean and volume reducing solution.

Progressive stability

Progressive stability has been designed into all our gliders to help pilots feel turbulence and avoid it. This makes for safer and more comfortable flying.

Snap Locks

Snap Locks are lightweight, compact attachments that effortlessly connect the brakes to the risers. A small focused magnet inside the catch and an internal locking system hold the handle in place, releasing only if the handles are pulled down towards the pilot. This unique design feature means the handles don’t fall off while kiting, packing, or performing manoeuvres. The Snap Lock system solves many of the problems associated with press-studs and magnets.

Triple finger diagonals

Across the whole chord of the profile we have designed three-piece diagonal supports that pass through the holes in other ribs. They ensure structural integrity by avoiding cloth bias from the ribs and creating a more solid wing even when brake is applied. This is particularly important near the trailing edge since the profile is thin and the diagonal ribs are shallow supporting higher loads.

Weight-optimised ribs

We have maintained the strength and rigidity of the ribs while removing unnecessary material. This means less weight for no increase in cost or reduction in strength of the wing. The hole positioning and size depends on the loads taken locally by the sail, and it is thanks to recent developments in our software that it is now possible to accurately calculate this.

Conçue par un champion du monde pour les prochains championnat du monde, la DIVA est une 2-lignes, offrant les performances associées mais également le confort d'une 3-lignes. C'est une aile de haute performance uniquement destinée aux pilotes de compétition très qualifiés.


Notes du concepteur

Sachant que mon fils Tyr allait voler avec pour les mondiaux, j'ai conçu la DIVA pour être rapide, mais avec l'équilibre parfait entre performance pure et sécurité progressive. La DIVA est conçue pour avertir les pilotes aguerris lorsqu'elle traverse des turbulences légères à modérées plutôt que de fermer complètement.

L'article de Bruce dans Cross Country magazine, “Shifting our thinking on Safety” relate comment une aile trop stable qui ne ferme presque jamais peut mener à l'accident. En effet, lorsqu'elle finit par fermer, le pilote n'est pas préparé et n'aura que peu d'expérience pour gérer l'incident. Toute voile fermera à partir d'un certain niveau de turbulences. Donc si une voile doit fermer, il est préférable que cela soit une petite fermeture dans des turbulences modérées qu'une grosse fermeture dans de fortes turbulences. La nature de la fermeture ainsi que l'intensité de la turbulence à laquelle la voile peut résister avant de fermer détermine si la fermeture sera facilement gérable ou non.
