Rene Falquier

switzerland

Rene was born and raised in Mexico City to a Swiss father and an American mother. He has five siblings. His love of action sports began at an early age, and Rene started paragliding in 2016. The sport inspired him to pursue his master’s in aeronautics in Stockholm, and he did his keystone project with BGD in 2019. He still contributes to BGD’s R&D efforts in his spare time. From 2022 he has competed in the Swiss League, achieving good results in the sports class. He gives safety talks at the local clubs and is involved in safety initiatives with the Swiss league. 2023 saw his entry to the acro scene, throwing shapes with his Epic Freestyle with the Central Switzerland Acro club. He also enjoy hike-and-fly adventures with his Anda, for which there are plenty of opportunities near his home in the Engelberg valley. He learned to fly tandem in 2024, to share his love of the sport. His motivations are more about enjoying flight than chasing performance. What he loves most about BGD is that their colourful gliders are designed and flown by equally colourful people! As someone who is often far from home, he cherishes the family feel of the BGD team.
