29-year-old Argentinean pilot Daiana Micaela Colaneri flew 180km on a BASE 2 Lite from Ceres on 7 December, a new women's Argentinean distance record!
In a report on Facebook she wrote:
"Last Sunday Hugo Dalmasso told me, 'Wednesday we go out', woke up a little overcast and not so promising, I went to work and at twelve. was in the aero for Yamil Tardivo to tow us. The first part was very complex, I did not manage to gain height, then I had to decide between making roof (and drifting me to the Laguna Mar Chiquita) or abandon them and go forward to the next one. I flew low, with strong conditions and plenty of chances of constant landing.
"Then when I could avoid the Laguna and I exceeded 2500 metres, the flight was something else, a pleasure! At four I took my gloves off and started cancelling appointments of my patients (I'm a psychologist). From there I enjoyed, I made video calls, I needed to share my happiness to exceed 100 km, then 150 and it was all for me! Rodrigo Ponzo Viano was following the flight, as always, and coordinating the rescue.
"I know I could have flown even more, but my body and mind after 5 hours of flight wouldn't let me. Decided to land with 180km of happiness, perseverance and sacrifice."
