At BGD we pride ourselves on using the best materials for the job: cloth, lines and accessories. We hope pilots don't need to pay too much attention to the construction of their brakes, but we pay a lot of attention to the small details that make them function perfectly, without fuss. And we are proud that some of our collaborations with accessory manufacturers have resulted in accessories that are being adopted by other paraglider manufacturers. Here are two examples:
Fidlock is a German manufacturer of fasteners which are used in many different products including helmets, bags and rucksacks. Back in 2015 BGD first spotted the potential of Fidlock fasteners and adapted one of their products, called the Snaplock, for use on the risers to hold the brake handles.
At the time it was quite a revolution and made BGD products stand out from the rest of the market. Through long-term cooperation with Fidlock we helped to develop the Snaplock further, improving its suitability for use on paraglider risers. The latest version of the Snaploack was especially made for attachment to our standard 13mm risers.
BGD has an open cooperation with Fidlock, and the whole paragliding industry can benefit from this new improved product. More and more paragliding brands are now switching to Snaplocks.
Allen is a British manufacturer of pulleys and sailing equipment. Bruce has been using their parts for over 30 years, dating back to the early hang gliding times with Airwave. Over the last two years BGD has been working with Allen to develop a new pulley specifically for use in paragliders. The new pulley is light weight, low cost and low friction, and is ideal for use on the brake attachment.
Due to BGD's open cooperation with Allen and the whole paragliding industry can benefit from this new improved product
