Anna Darchenkova flew 318km from Assu, Brazil, on her Cure 2 on 8th November. It's a personal best, and a new Russian Women's record, too. It also puts Anna fourth in the women's XContest at the time of writing (11 November 2021).
The flight took nine and a half hours. From a tow launch at 07:45am she flew all day, landing at 17:17. That's four minutes before sunset, according to Google! Maximising the flying day? Tick!
"Every day we wake at 5am to be at the take-off for 7am, ready to fly. It blew my mind that you are at cloudbase and 10-15km away from launch by 8am!" Anna said.
Anna, who looks after BGD's sales in Russia, flew the first 130km of this flight with BGD Team Pilot Nikolay Klimenko on his Lynx, and the whole flight with another pilot called Richard.
The retrieve vehicle was there before she'd even finished packing up. "Organisation is good here!" A local company organised "Everything! Towing, retrieve, hotel..." although the retrieve was almost more tiring than the flight, even so!
Congratulations, Anna!
