One of six siblings, Rene was born and raised in Mexico City to a Swiss father and an American mother. A love of action sports began at an early age, and Rene started paragliding in 2016. The sport inspired him to pursue his master’s in aeronautics in Stockholm, and he did his keystone project with BGD in 2019. He still contributes to BGD’s R&D efforts in his spare time. After two years competing in the Swiss League, achieving good results in the sports class, Rene plans to focus more on "good old XC" for 2024. In 2023 he enrolled in the Central Switzerland Acro club and is loving throwing shapes with his Epic Freestyle. He also enjoy hike-and-fly adventures with his Anda, and there is plenty of scope for that near his home in the Engelberg valley. He has also recently started tandem training, and looks forward to sharing this beautiful sport under a BGD wing. Rene says what he loves most about BGD is that their colourful gliders are designed and flown by equally colourful people! Often far from home, he cherishes the family feel of the BGD team.
