Thisal learned to paraglide when he moved to Canada from Sri Lanka to study engineering in 2014. It reconnected him with his childhood fascination for flight. He’d been the kind of child whose eyes were always turned skyward, watching birds, making paper planes and flying RC models. Paragliding was a dream, even more because it challenged him intellectually. “I love reading the sky – how wind, terrain, and sun interact – and using that understanding to fly farther, faster, and more efficiently”. He says paragliding has given him unforgettable views, deep friendships, and a powerful sense of belonging. He's already proven his skills in competitions, and is very involved in his local scene, with competitions, shuttles, site maintenance and student training. He's chasing some ambitious XC lines and dreams of one day exploring the potential of his native Sri Lanka.
