Heather Atkins

united states

Heather packs a lot in to her life, and has what she calls a ‘non-linear’ approach. A former lawyer turned explorer, her education background is neuroscience, classics, music and law. She has always loved aviation, but the spark that ignited her paragliding career was seeing tandem speedflying while on a skiing holiday. She was hooked from her first training day, continuing her training with SIV, acro and guided XC trips. Two years in she tried mini wings and speed wings on the dunes then in the mountains. She began speedriding after three years, followed by her first night flights and flying with her dog. Aerial performance and roller skating are part of her story and yes, combined with flying! She's gaining experience in XC comps, and recently joined the British Paragliding Racing Academy.
