665 kilometres on foot and in the air, across the length of Espírito Santo: BGD pilots Raphael Laghi and Facu Jios completed Brazil’s biggest hike-and-fly competition!
Of the 27 teams that set out on 14 July, just 13 completed the entire Transcapixaba route. Among them were BGD’s Brazilian sales representative Raphael Laghi, who finished ninth flying the TIGRA with his TUNA harness, and Argentinian team pilot Facu Jios, who finished 13th on the BREEZE.
Crossing Espírito Santo’s mountains and valleys demands endurance, flying skill and the judgement to know when to pack up and keep moving on foot. Reaching the finish was a huge achievement for both pilots.
The race follows a journey pioneered by local athlete Lucas Porto, who went on to create the competition. Earlier editions tackled sections of the crossing; this year brought them together for the full journey, making it the most ambitious edition yet.
Congratulations to Raphael, Facu and their supporters for going the distance!
