BGD is a partner in phase 1 of the SKYTUG project. The SKYTUG project aims to deliver wind assisted propulsion to conventional and alternatively propelled vessels during the open sea sections of their crossings, thereby reducing the towed vessel’s carbon footprint and required fuel storage capacity.
The project is in its first, concept development, stage and is sponsored by the UK Government's Department of Transport Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC) program. BGD worked to develop the Skytug kites and especially to fly them in an array and to deploy kites from an already flying kite to build a multi-level array.
