The fourth and final round of the 2025 SRS series was the BGD edition, which took place in Àger, Spain the first week in September.
Three tasks were validated, including the longest ever in the event’s history at 116.6km. Abel Varga won task 4 (the second valid task) flying the CURE 3. With a style that favours pushing ahead he earned maximum lead-out points and a full 1,000 points in the 74.2km task.
“Sometimes the risks [of leading out] don’t pay off though”, he laughed, explaining how he had pushed hard in the 117km task and taken a different line just before the ESS, but missed the lift and bombed out. That’s competition flying, sometimes the big risks pay off, sometimes they don’t!
BGD team pilot João Pinheiro came third overall and 2nd Midweight in the 2025 series flying his CURE 3 – congratulations João!
16-year-old Venezuelan pilot Isaac Michel won a brand new CURE 3 in the prize draw, to much excitement and dancing. He wrote on Instagram, "I can't wait to try this new wing... soon to be flying with it!"
Isaac was the youngest competitor in the Àger event, flying brilliantly to take third place in the midweight category and 9th overall.
