Ulrike started her flying career in 1998 with hang gliding in the Alps. In 2013, after several years without flying due to little spare time and too much work, she finally converted to paragliding after moving to Norway. In the Norwegian mountains flying a paraglider is much more convenient then hang gliding as there is little infrastructure for transporting a glider up to the mountain top you would like to fly from or when landing somewhere remote. Ulrike’s favorite activity is exploring the mountains, preferably going for multi-day trips, both hiking, skiing, by kayak, bicycle or with her paraglider. She simply loves enjoying the views and the nature away from the crowds. To begin with, Ulrike was actually most interested in combining the flying with hiking, climbing and skiing, just as a fast and fun way for descending from summits. This however changed instantly when she experienced her first XC flights and discovered this very special way of exploring the world from a very different angle when surfing below the clouds. Since 2017, Ulrike is flying the Cure as this glider is fitting best her flying style and the ever-changing conditions in the North. This wing is just perfect for her, being a light pilots who needs a sensitive and safe wing with enough speed and good glide performance for proper XC-adventures.
