Bruce Goldsmith explains MRT (Multiple radius Turnpoints). This is a system Bruce and his team have been developing for paragliding competitions for a number of years. It enables pilots of different weights to compete against each other fairly without the need to carry ballast. Because it is an inherent disadvantage in paragliding racing competitions to be light, pilots are forced to fly bigger gliders and carry ballast to be competitive. Lighter pilots carry up to 50% of their bodyweight, which clearly is a significant safety issue. The Free Flyers Union was set up in October 2025 to discuss ways in which paragliding competitions can be made safer. This recording of Bruce's presentation to the FFU was made in November 2025.
