Info

At just 3.8kg in size S, the TIGRA combines lightweight agility with the performance and stability needed for all-out XC flying. The TIGRA shares the CURE 3’s 70-cell planform and 6.7 aspect ratio, but takes a very different approach with a completely new arc, internal structure and material mix developed specifically for lightweight performance flying.

The sail is Porcher Skytex 27 II on the top surface and Dominico D10 on the lower surface. Inside, a clever hybrid combination of nitinol and plastic rods balances durability, packability and structural precision. The result is a wing that launches easily, climbs efficiently and delivers playful, confidence-inspiring handling with excellent glide performance and coordinated turning behaviour.

The TIGRA is pure flying pleasure for all XC pilots who prefer lightweight equipment. Paired with the Tuna harness you have a complete lightweight racing and XC set-up, ready for big adventures.

Tech

BGD Feedback/Handling

Gliders that talk are safer. Safer gliders make pilots perform better. Better performing pilots fly further. Further flying pilots are happier pilots. BGD Feedback produces happier pilots!

Chord Cut Billow (CCB)

Chord Cut Billow technology has been developed to improve the form friction, glider stability and overall performance of our paragliders. Two seams run chord-wise across the top panels of the leading edge. They accommodate the panel ballooning that happens when the wing is inflated. Without CCB, up to five centimetres of excess material is created on the sides of an inflated flat panel when it bends over a wing profile. This results in wrinkles. Chord Cut Billow technology removes this excess material and the 3D panel has fewer ripples and improved rib profile shape and stability.

Carbon handles

Carbon handles for the rear-riser steering are comfortable, easy to use and facilitate flying fast

Hybrid internal construction

A combination of nitinol and plastic rods balances durability, packability and structural precision.

Light Reflex profile

The Tigra features a subtle reflex profile, adding extra pitch stability and confidence at speed without compromising the natural handling and feedback BGD pilots love. The result is a wing that feels solid and reassuring on glide, while still remaining agile, efficient, and fun to fly in real XC conditions.

Optimised Risers

12mm nylon-reinforced Kevlar A riser and 7mm B riser, with brand new high quality pulleys on the speed system and brake leg

Snap Locks

BGD developed the first snaplocks for paragliding with Fidlock a decade ago. They have been refined and improved over the years and have now been widely adopted in the industry. A small focused magnet inside the catch with an internal locking system holds the handles in place. They release only when the handles are pulled down towards the pilot, so they don’t fall off while kiting, packing, or performing manoeuvres.

Winglets

The winglets help the glider recover smoothly from steep spiral dives, improving overall spiral behaviour without compromising performance or handling. Their refined integration also contributes to the wing’s precise feel, coordinated turning, and efficient glide.

Target

The Tigra is designed for pilots who want serious XC and competition performance in a lightweight, compact package. It is aimed at pilots who enjoy moving fast through the mountains – whether that means hike-and-fly races like the X-Alps, X-Pyr and Bones to Fly; sports-class competitions such as the SRS, or long vol-biv adventures deep into the back country.

The wing sizing is a bit smaller than the CURE 3 to better fit pilots flying lighter harness set-ups and no ballast, and of course the glider itself is lighter.

This agile cat is an efficient climber, sharp and precise in the air. Fast and hungry, she has the goal in her sights and is up for the chase. To the pilot, she’s a pussycat. A reassuring presence and a pleasure to spend long days out in the sky with.

Designer's notes

The goal with the Tigra was not simply to build a lighter version of an existing wing, but to create a glider specifically tailored to the needs of modern hike-and-fly and vol-biv pilots. Lightweight equipment changes the way pilots move through the mountains, and we wanted the Tigra to feel efficient, agile and enjoyable throughout the entire adventure – from the hike up to the final glide home.

The Tigra has a slightly flatter arc than the CURE 3 with an aerodynamic profile that is optimised for performance. The planform is sleek and the tips give the Tigra an efficient balance between handling and performance.

The internal structure has been highly optimised for weight with a lattice-work of thousands of holes optimised though advanced structural analysis, and we are using a hybrid combination of nitinol and plastic rods.

The risers are made from Kevlar-reinforced nylon. The A-riser, which bears most of the load, is 12mm, and the back riser is a skinny 7mm. Softlinks are standard. A maillon on the AR3 makes it easy to make trim adjustments if necessary. The brake pulleys are brand new, lightweight Allen ball-bearing pulleys and the brake legs are replaceable – in case the pulleys ever need changing or the pilot prefers a different length.
